Coaching is what sets a gym apart, and at Bird Dog CrossFit in Castle Rock, you get seven coaches with seven very different paths to the same platform. Here’s who you’ll see on the floor.
Patrick Wolf — Owner
Patrick is the founder of Bird Dog CrossFit, where he fosters a strong, inclusive community. With a background in CrossFit since 2012, he mentors athletes and coaches, hosts events, and continuously enhances the gym experience with innovative programs and competitions. His credentials include Opex CCP, CrossFit L1, L2, and Kids.
Pam Marschner — Head Coach
Born and raised in Colorado, Pam was a level 10 gymnast who became a professional acrobat, high diver, and aerialist. After a severe spinal injury, she turned to CrossFit in 2010, regaining strength and overcoming pain. With 20+ years of coaching gymnastics and CrossFit, she loves helping others achieve what they thought was impossible. She’s a CrossFit L1, holds L2 and USAW, and — fun fact — met her husband while cliff diving at Casa Bonita.
Joy Nowakowski — CrossFit Coach
Joy found CrossFit in 2015, transforming her fitness and mindset. After 20 years in education, she transitioned to real estate in 2017. A mother of three, she now coaches at Bird Dog, balancing her passion for fitness with a thriving career and family life. She’s a CF L1 and L2.
Jordyn DeCarlo — CrossFit Coach
A lifelong athlete, Jordyn competed in cross country, track, and soccer before discovering CrossFit. A Bird Dog member for over a year, she recently joined as a coach while pursuing her CF-L1. Passionate about competition, she owns three horses, a cat, and her bird dog, Deke.
Tony Bernard — CrossFit Coach
Tony found CrossFit in his late 40s and earned his CF-L1 in 2024 — proof it’s never too late to start. A former football player, he embraced fitness through CrossFit, bootcamps, and half marathons before relocating to Colorado to be near family.
Shawne Beeson — CrossFit Coach
Shawne brings over 25 years of problem-solving experience to Bird Dog — usually involving servers instead of barbells. A father of two, he’s passionate about setting a healthy example for the next generation. He’s CF L1, L2, and Kids certified.
Andy Maison — CrossFit Coach
Andy played rugby for Arizona State University and competed for a men’s club before starting CrossFit in 2023, after moving to Castle Rock. He believes fitness has been one of the most effective tools for managing mental health and strives to instill the importance of overall well-being in every athlete.
